Sculpting a Mini Lemon Bundt

I’m sometimes asked “how on earth did you make that?” when people see my miniatures for the first time. So, I thought I’d show a few photos with a brief description of the process. Even though it’s so tiny, it helps to think how ‘real’ food is made. Sometimes the best inspirations come from cookbooks,Continue reading “Sculpting a Mini Lemon Bundt”

A Tiny Room for Mother…

This Christmas,  I made a room box for my mom. My husband made the outer wooden box and I made the inner foam box ‘room’. If you want to see a tutorial on how to make a room box, Kris at ‘1 inch minis‘ has a great one to follow. The furnishings are a mixContinue reading “A Tiny Room for Mother…”

My Autumn Miniatures

This year we had a much welcomed extension to our summer. It’s only been since mid October that we can feel the crisp autumn air. Now that fall is upon us, I couldn’t be happier. This is my favourite time of year…when we bring out our sweaters, cook more comfort foods, do more family cuddlesContinue reading “My Autumn Miniatures”

Making minis for my girls…

This is where my obsession all started. After watching a few youtube tutorials on making doll food, I thought I would give it a whirl. Money was tight and I had 3 little girls who loved their dolls. I felt confident I could make some cute foods for their barbies…and so I went to Michael’sContinue reading “Making minis for my girls…”

A Miniature Pond Tutorial

I’m determined for my English cottage dollhouse to have a little garden. In that garden will be lavender, a bench, some dainty flowers, and this koi pond. And a zen like peace. I made this using a mason jar band as a base. First, I formed a cane for my bricks using white, beige superContinue reading “A Miniature Pond Tutorial”

Chicken Skewers for American Girl dolls

Today I made these grilled chicken on skewers from polymer clay, for my shop. The scale works for any 18″ doll, or larger ball jointed dolls. The prize consists of 2 grilled chicken skewers, madeContinue reading “Chicken Skewers for American Girl dolls”

Pepperoni Pizza in 1:6 Scale

I made this as a gift for a customer. She collects miniatures in 1:6 scale. Clay Pizza is fun but also time consuming. This took most of the day but it was worth it. I hope she is pleasantly surprised when it arrives! Some day, when I have this process down to a science, IContinue reading “Pepperoni Pizza in 1:6 Scale”

A Dollhouse Cookie Sheet

At some point, I want to get some aluminum sheets to make some baking pans. Since I didn’t have any, I settled for polymer clay. I love polymer clay. But when it comes to dollhouse miniatures, I like using materials closer to the real thing….For the sake of realism. This may lack a bit inContinue reading “A Dollhouse Cookie Sheet”

Tempting treats to break a tooth on (or my unusually productive day)

I really don’t know what got into me. I must have been inspired by something. Because today I made some sweets…lots and lots of sweets…. Blueberry and strawberry desserts…. And a flaky, buttery cookie with sprinkles…..(I had to try out my bright sprinkles) And finally, cupcakes in 1:6 scale…. I did manage to get oneContinue reading “Tempting treats to break a tooth on (or my unusually productive day)”

Polymer Clay Floor Tiles

Do you remember when I started these polymer clay tiles for my first dollhouse? Well, they are finished! And now I am installing them in the upper level of my dollhouse. Installation is near completion and then I will ‘grout’ them with a mixture of acrylic paint and light weight spackle (the fluffy white kind).Continue reading “Polymer Clay Floor Tiles”
